A Year in Review for Red Fathom

2024 has been a wild ride for Red Fathom's second year with me working full time to make what we do bigger and better by becoming a full time audio fiction producer. We entered a couple award festivals this year, brought home some trophies and laurels and most importantly- we built worlds. From the Wild Wasteland, a grand return to the Stuffer Shack and finally, the conception of Scarlett's Hidden World, we've been VERY busy.

With so much going on, I thought this might be the perfect time to revive our newsletter and round up this years achievements!

SCARLETT: RELIQUARY OF SOULS

It's time to break the silence on our boldest, most ambitious project. Our darkest story. Set for crowdfunding and release in 2025.

Toronto, 200: A supernatural sect of ghost worshipers widens a tear between our world and the here-after that threatens to consume the unknowing city. To close it, Scarlett (the mortal daughter of Hades) must enlist the help of uninitiated reporter Anne Sagona, a descendant of the infamous Pandora.

Featuring top tier voice talent, sweeping sound design and a powerful soundtrack including Chelsea Wolfe, Emma Ruth Rundle and Greg Dombrowski of Succession Studios, SCARLETT will pull you into a cycle of fate, pathos and tragedy that is sure to leave you breathless.

If you've been looking for a supernatural thriller that takes inspiration from movies like Constantine, The Crow, Hellboy as well as other early 2000's occult fantasy; this show is going to fill that void while serving you a copious amount of heartbreak. 

This is a story that's been burning in me for ten years now and I can't wait to unleash it on 2025.

HANNAHPOCALYPSE

As mentioned in the news before our recent feed swap with Sorry About the Murder, our cast and crew has been hit with a series of unforeseen emergencies and tragedies that have made production a little rough. While some of these issues are still ongoing, we were able to get Episode 30.0 fully recorded and currently have it cooking in post production for release on January 2nd, 2025. 

We hope to record both 31.0 & 32.0 at the same time so that I can follow up with new episodes in Feb & March to finish off season 2 of Hannahpocalypse on a strong note with the special two part 'Uncivil War' as our finale! As it currently sits, we tentatively plan to come back with Season 3 in the sunset months of summer 2025 with plans for an in-between season mini-series to keep you invested in the Wild Wasteland as you wait!

In the meantime, we had some fun with our re-mastered remaster of the Hannahpocalypse X-Mas special!

We recently got our hands on some new tech that has boosted our production value to new heights! 

Infusing our Christmas special with virtual 3D sound was a really neat journey in sound design and I look forward to incorporating it in new and interesting ways in the future. If you haven't gotten a chance to hear it yet, you can get it ad-free on Patreon!

TALES FROM THE STUFFER SHACK

The re-release of our 2017 Shadowrun Anarchy actual play has been going well! With weekly releases until we run out of content and 9 episodes out NOW, it's our hope that we'll turn new fans onto the story as well as bring back old fans that want to give the show another listen! 

If you're interested in an actual play that's a little different (Following two underachieving clerks working the night shift in Seattle's toughest convenience store) then this one is for you! If we see enough support for it our cast has shown interest in coming back for a follow up season with ALL NEW content so give it a shot (please excuse the 2017 discord quality sound, I did what I could!) and drop us some comments on Apple or Spotify and tell us what you think!

Website REVAMP

We took some time recently to give our aging website an overhaul. Though we're not yet finished, it's looking a lot better. Gone are the clunky, scrolling entries, now replaced by sleek embeds and a new, flashier look! We're still working on adding new features.

Currently we took out our transcripts as most podcatchers now supply relatively accurate transcripts as part of their service which is an incredible step forward for the industry. We might look into making those available again on the site if it turns out those are inefficient so please, let us know if we're wrong in that assessment and if you preferred the raw scripts we used to supply and I can figure out a way to incorporate them on the site as well!
