The Roller Coaster Ride Continues

It's been a wild couple months full of ups and downs. Such is the plight of being a creator, I suppose! I wanted to take the time to let you folks in on what's been going on in the world of Red Fathom as I've re-connected with my creative drive and found a lot of momentum. I'm creating new things every day again (something that feels amazing after all of the ups and downs we've been through lately).

SCARLETT: The writing room, casting & semi-failed Kickstarter

The Kickstarter 'Semi-Failure'

After a long, taxing campaign the first crowdfunding drive for Scarlett: Reliquary of Souls ended short of it's funding goal. I was prepared for a bit of a crash afterwards but then, minutes after the campaign closed, an old patron and friend reached out to save the day. 

To make a long story short, he'd meant to come in during the closing minutes and help us reach our minimum goal BUT it closed during the transaction and we didn't make it. This was obviously something I didn't expect and was incredibly grateful for. 

I wasn't prepared for what he did next. Which is to say he offered us an amount of money that could get us started on production and make it possible to get this story off the ground. Which means when we return to Kickstarter, we get to look for funding to make us whole and to pay our talent closer to what they should be seeing (but it will no longer dictate whether we CAN do this or not).

Writing Room

Now that the BIG news is out of the way, I'm going to give you a peak into pre-production! As I pen this newsletter I've polished off the first draft of episode 3, which leaves 5 more to go. At my current rate, I'm finishing a script and a half a week so in about a month and a half ahead of me until the series is finished in the writing room (and edited) putting us on track to be recording in October as long as there aren't any sizable delays!

Scarlett Kickstarter Casting Announcement

During our Kickstarter campaign we finally finalized and announced our cast! In case you missed it, Red Fathom is proud to announce:

Amanda Hufford as Scarlett Velasco, Allanah Fitzgerald as Anne Sagona, Joshua Waters as Max, Will Handford as Hades, Dashawn Ricks as Detective Albrecht, Griffin Puatu as Andy Miles, Tom Schalk as The Cyclops, Vili-Oskari Korkko as Eric Masterson. 

Though this was a semi-closed audition, Amanda and I poured over 250+ auditions to parse it down to this incredible cast. I'm excited to hear how they transform the story I'm writing and for the chance to work with some Red Fathom favourites as well as some new-to-me talent!

HANNAHPOCALYPSE Updates: Season 3 News, Remaster Project, Special episodes.

As I'm very occupied with pre-production work for SCARLETT, I've been pretty quiet as to what's going on with Hannah. I'd meant to have a couple specials release in between the end of the second season and the beginning of the first. That might turn out to only be one special in October but fear not - I plan on going right from the writing room for Scarlett and into writing Hannahpocalypse Season 3! I think it's time to give you a little sneak peak into what to expect.

Hannahpocalypse S3 - The Ballad of Punchin' Judy will be the final full season of Hannahpocalypse and will contain THREE running storylines! The first will follow Hannah as she joins Mel, Ashley and Billy for a new adventure. The second will involve the Cali and Alfie's journey of discovery through the Wasteland while the third follows an all new story as we meet wasteland rock star Punchin' Judy and her reluctant companion, Lagarto.

It's my hope that this season will bring all storylines to a head and create a satisfying conclusion to this truly amazing story in the biggest way possible. It's going to be absolutely epic. 

Season 1 Remaster Project

...Will continue soon! I had hoped to already have the next one done so I thought I'd share the current plan with you guys. 

Through the help of our patrons over on Patreon we are able to not only keep Hannah afloat but also come back to some of our old episodes and remaster them in a way that brings them up to par with our work in Season 2. As I write, produce and sound design all episodes on my own, I've had a lot of growing when it comes to sound design and while the old episodes are far from bad... I've come a long way. My goal is to keep remastering these older episodes and making them available here through Patreon ad-free as I have previously done. I will then start on the early episodes of Season 2 and do the same, adding volumetric sound to the show as I go.
